Pragmatic Approach to Progressive Policy

The scale of change required to address major environmental challenges, like plastic pollution, necessitates policy interventions that can create transformative action above and beyond what individual efforts alone can achieve.

The crises our planet are facing today demand bold, systemic responses.

I see evidence-based policies as a critical tool to tackling complex challenges holistically. I’m known for creative problem-solving, open and collaborative dialogues, and delivering under pressure.

I work towards the most ambitious policy possible and celebrate the incremental progress along the way that help us realize a more sustainable and equitable future because we have no time to waste.

Tackling the Plastic Pollution Crisis

There’s no quick-fix or silver bullet to solving this crisis. The science is clear, we need to do it all: make and use less plastic, better manage the plastics we do use, and continue to clean up the plastic that’s already out in the environment. These aren’t the kind of changes that will just happen, we must bring them about through consistent, concerted advocacy efforts.

  • REDUCE

We need to significantly reduce the amount of plastics were making and using in the first place, starting with single-use plastics.

  • REDESIGN

While we cannot recycle our way out of this crisis we cannot tackle this crisis without recycling. To make recycling work for people and the planet, we need plastics to be recyclable by design and to hold producers responsible for their wasteful producers.

  • REMOVE

We need to continue targeted and effective cleanups to prevent the plastics already in the ocean from doing more harm.

True progress in tackling plastic pollution comes when we bring everyone to the table - policymakers, scientists, industry leaders, and communities. It’s in this collaborative space that we find the most innovative and lasting solutions.
